Apr 15, 2013 1:09 PMBring back theatre!
Apr 15, 2013 12:59 PMSince working and attending school here, I find that some of the students are not motivated at all and I listen to students complain about instructors not being motivated or motivating; or don't explain materials; or instructors give exams on materials not being covered. Whatever the reason, I believe the university should stress unity in working together as a unit and show more enthusiasm about being at the university.
Apr 15, 2013 11:56 AMKEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Mar 26, 2013 1:21 PMGood to see this is being done. It's the first step to a better LSUA.
Mar 26, 2013 11:00 AMhave everyone read the lsua catalog and get on the same page also have faculty and staff stop the attitude of 'that's not my job'
Mar 20, 2013 9:35 AMwhen a person who wants to empower another gives attention to a student, faculty or staff, it becomes WIN WIN micro managers and stiff professors need to be weeded out of the university as they do not promote healthy living nor would they ever believe they cause problems
Mar 19, 2013 7:36 AMVery interested to see what others have suggested. It's hard to know what affects other departments or how other departments see or are affected by various issues, processes, etc.
Mar 19, 2013 6:47 AMREF Question # 3: Input from many who are hands on with students in various aspects of all areas that affect their 'student learning' never taken seriously; therefore, input is no longer offered.

Mar 14, 2013 2:37 PMWe have a wonderful campus, faculty, staff, and student population! I am certain that together we will continue to improve and move forward through these challenging and changing times.
Mar 14, 2013 11:26 AMAll should be mature adults upon entering college, but if we want to attract first generation learners, we must go an extra mile. Thank you.
Mar 14, 2013 7:18 AMFaculty should consider all resources available to support their courses and students
Mar 14, 2013 6:56 AMThe campus alone is a great asset in its beauty and serenity. Students want to belong where they feel they are loved; they can make an impact; and where learning is fun. We have that potential
Mar 14, 2013 6:44 AMWhile an important process, the one thing I do not want to see is a bunch of "Pomp and Circumstance" to promote the QEP. In a time of budget constraints, I can not fathom any situation where spending money on promoting the QEP would be viewed as a positive thing by staff who are concerned about potential job losses due to the budget.
Mar 14, 2013 6:42 AMnever see anything really change.
Mar 13, 2013 9:25 AMI would like to see the admission side of students entrance into LSUA being addressed. So often a student has to face a student worker, who half the time is too busy to answer them directly. How about putting actual people with degrees in those positions, and samething with financial aid which in my opinion is one of the biggest reasons a lot of students have transfered from LSUA. You can never get no one on the phone, and you have to face a student. There is no way a department that is that important has no one answering the phone. I know that a student can go into self service and see what they need to turn into Financial aid, but when it is something they don't understand and they need to talk to a real person they should definitely have that option without having to drive all the way campus when they live an 1hr to an 1 1/2 half away. If the student does not turn in the right paperwork to get fiancial aid they either sit out or try at another school, because they did not get the help or guidiance needed. There is nothing wrong with student workers, but full departments running off of student workers alone is not good. This will affect student learning as well, because if they start classes and they don't know until a little ways in if they did or didn't get the aid. That is a stressor.
Mar 12, 2013 2:22 PMStudent Support (advising, counseling , etc ) can make a big difference.
Mar 12, 2013 1:46 PMI appreciate your interest in getting input from as many constituencies as possible. It should make it easier to engage people with the QEP once it has been adopted.
Mar 12, 2013 1:39 PMIt would be nice if we could tighten expenses in a way that would allow us to re-staff some of our unfilled positions. As useless as a lot of these positions may seem, it helps to have more people on campus to aid in daily activities. If departments are stretched too thin, employees will lack motivation to see this campus thrive with students. More of our staff would then have the time and interest to devote to student learning and the overall development of the university.
Mar 12, 2013 1:28 PMGreat introduction party - Was amazing to see how many turned up. I'm sure the food was a great incentive. I think we as a LSUA team need to be more aggressive in our growth and push passive methods to the back burner. We are not only in direct competition with other universities, we are also in competition with ourselves. If we don't show our willingness to grow as a unified body, then we will lack the drive to keep up with the rapid changes in higher education.
